Note
"Jedwabno [jɛdˈvabnɔ] (German: Jedwabno, 1938-45: Gedwangen) is a village in Szczytno County, Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, in northern Poland. It is the seat of the administrative district of Gmina Jedwabno. It lies approximately 18 kilometres (11 mi) west of Szczytno and 32 km (20 mi) south-east of the regional capital Olsztyn.

In 1436, in records of the Komturei Osterode, a first time mention of the settlement of Gedwangen in the Prussian territory of Sassen is mentioned. The name Gedwangen includes the Prussian language words "gedian" thicket and "wangus" (cleared oak forest). A church was built in Gedwangen at that time and the inhabitants are recorded to have lived mainly from forest beekeeping. Later Protestant settlers from Poland to Prussia introduced the name Jedwabno.[citation needed]" - (en.wikipedia.org 22.09.2020)
