"Amboise (US: /ɒ̃ˈbwɑːz/, French: [ɑ̃bwaz] (listen)) is a commune in the Indre-et-Loire department in central France. It lies on the banks of the Loire River, 27 kilometres (17 mi) east of Tours. Today a small market town, it was once home of the French royal court.
