- Somogyi Árpád (szobrász) (Karcag, 1926. 09. 24 - Budapest, 2008. 09. 27.) Főiskolai tanulmányai előtt, 1943 és 1945 között Medgyessy Ferenc műtermében tanult mintázni. 1948-53: Magyar Képzőművészeti Főiskola, mesterei: Ferenczy Béni, Pátzay Pál, Medgyessy Ferenc. 1951: Munkácsy-díj; 1958: VIT-díj. Realista szellemiségű, főként parasztalakokat mintázó szobrász. Jelentős portréművészete is. Elsősorban monumentális alkotásokat készít, megrendeléseket teljesít, de kisplasztikái is ismertek. Bronzból öntött, kőből faragott művei nyugalmat sugárzó, kiegyensúlyozott, tömbszerű, zárt kompozíciók. Mesterei: Ferenczy Béni, Pátzay Pál, Medgyessy Ferenc.
