Karin Sander studied at Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Stuttgart and at the Independent Study Program (I. S. P.) of the Whitney Museum in New York for which she had received a DAAD-scholarship. From 1999 to 2007, Sander was a professor at the Kunsthochschule Berlin-Weißensee and since 2007 she holds a professorship of Art and Architecture at the ETH Zurich Swiss Federal Institute of Technology.
