- "Prince Adam Jerzy Czartoryski (Polish pronunciation: [ˈadam ˈjɛʐɨ t͡ʂartɔˈrɨskʲi]; Lithuanian: Аdomas Jurgis Čartoriskis; also known, in English, as Adam George Czartoryski; 14 January 1770 – 15 July 1861) was a Polish nobleman, statesman, and agitator. The son of a prince, he began as a foreign minister to the Russian Tsar Alexander I and built an anti-Napoleon coalition. He became a leader of the Polish government in exile, and a bitter foe of Russian Tsar Nicholas I.
